      General note

At first the ice house was built near to Rainbow Lodge. It was later moved closer to Alta Lake to cut down on the distance that the ice needed to be hauled. Ice houses were built above ground and with double walls. Generally it would take about 2 weeks to get enough ice to last the summer.1
