History
Doug Hare is a Canadian retired helicopter and float plane pilot and helicopter base manager based in Whistler. He grew up in North Vancouver, where he attended Delbrook Senior Secondary School from 1965 to 1967. From 1968 to 1972, he was a float plane pilot for Alert Bay Air Services in Alert Bay, BC. In 1972, he moved to Whistler, where he was a helicopter pilot and the base manager at Whistler Mountain for Okanagan Helicopters until 1978. In the spring of 1978, Doug worked as a float plane pilot for West Coast Air Services, and from the summer of 1978 to 1980, he worked as a corporate helicopter pilot for L & K Lumber in North Vancouver. From 1980 to 1999, he was the chief helicopter pilot and the operations manager for MacMillan Bloedel in BC. From 1999 to 2003, Doug was the corporate aviation operations manager for Weyerhaeuser in BC, then from 2003 to 2007, he worked there as the operations manager as well as a helicopter pilot. From 2007 to 2012, he was the director of aviation for Weyerhaeuser, based in Seattle, WA. Doug retired as a corporate pilot in 2012, and his since been living in Whistler.
