        Historique

        Karl Frehsner is an Austrian alpine skiing coach and sports manager. His nickname is "The Iron Karl". The son of a lumberjack, he spent his childhood and youth in Austria 's Laussabachtal region. He later moved to Switzerland, where he worked in ski factories and climbed the north face of the Eiger, among other things. He worked various positions at the Swiss Ski Association for 17 years and played a key role in the success of the men's team, which went from victory to victory in the 1980s with Zurbriggen, Müller, Heinzer, and others, winning 35 medals at major events with the national team. In 1993, he became a trainer for the Sauber team in Formula 1, before returning to coaching ski racing in 1997. Initially as a downhill coach, he took over responsibility for a women's team for the first time in his coaching career and, as head coach, led the Austrian women's skiers to three World Cup overall victories in a row and to several world championship titles and Olympic medals. In May 2009, Frehsner was hired as a consultant in Lara Gut 's private team. Frehsner has lived in Dietikon in the canton of Zurich since 1968 .
