Fond consists of material donated by Gordon McKeever and includes promotional stickers for Whistler Mountain and Whistler Blackcomb, a promotional book for Whistler's restaurants, four travel planners created by the Whistler Resort Association to promote both Winter and Summer seasons between 1997 and 2000, a paper spiral bound guide for Whistler Resort Association (WRA) members from November 15th, 1996, a 1999 VHS promotional resort video guide for the Resort Municipality of Whistler, a variety of materials supporting the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, four paper business directory booklets printed for the Whistler Chamber of Commerce dating from 1994, 1996, and 1999, and sixteen posters depicting a variety of subject matter including Whistler festivals, ski racing events, concert series, car shows, heli-skiing, Molson and Shell Cups, and Whistler Resort tourism.

Winter and Summer Travel Planners - Whistler Resort Association Promotional Booklets

Four travel planners created by the Whistler Resort Association to promote both Winter and Summer seasons between 1997 and 2000. Three of the planners are from the 1997-2000 Winter seasons, and one is from 1999 promoting the Summer season.

The planners cover topics regarding tourism including, accommodation, shopping, activities, transportation, events and festivals, Whistler Blackcomb, recreation, family services, dining, tours and sightseeing, mountain and valley maps, ski school, après, the Conference Centre, directory listings, packages, reservations, advertiser listings, day trips, golf, fishing, water sports, snow sports, lift tickets, ski area comparisons, ski and snowboard races/competitions, rentals, transportation, and booking services.

Olympics

The series includes event tickets from the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, two temporary tattoos representing the 2010 Winter Olympic Games hosted in Whistler and Vancouver, stickers promoting the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, three DVDs from 2005-2010 that contain videos on a variety of topics regarding Olympic Games, one CD-R disc that contains one PDF of a study on the Whistler Athlete's Village heating system feasibility from 2004, an excel matrix, a promotional VHS tape for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games bid, a BC Transit brochure map that outlines its bus services during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, a [dinner] menu prepared for His Royal Highness, the Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex by the Resort Municipality of Whistler [during his visit to the Paralympic Games in 2010], a paper booklet of a concept design for the Whistler Olympic Centre, a spiral bound paper booklet created for the Vancouver Whistler 2010 Bid Corporation Supporter Conference from November 23, 2001, a poster created by Tourism Whistler to advertise the temporary closure of the Whistler Public Library while the building functioned as the Whistler Canada Olympic House during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, a congratulatory issue of TIME Magazine from July 14th, 2003 with a cover image of three local Whistler youth celebrating the Vancouver and Whistler 2010 Olympic bid victory in the Village Square, Whistler Village.

Poster - Whistler Public Library as Canada House

A poster created by Tourism Whistler to advertise the temporary closure of the Whistler Public Library while the building functioned as the Whistler Canada Olympic House during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. The poster includes the dates of closure and re-opening, as well as a list of free community events occurring throughout the Olympics. It has the text "Check it Out" in large red print, with information written below. There is also an image of the Whistler Public Library outfitted for the 2010 Games, [including a picture of local Whistler youths celebrating Vancouver and Whistler winning the 2010 Olympic bid in 2003 ] at the bottom of the page. The picture of the youths was also used on item GMCK_02_011_001.

The posters include a black and white poster promoting the Porsche Club of America's third annual weekend event in Whistler on the weekend of August 26th-28th, 1983, a poster advertising a Halloween masquerade ball fundraiser, a poster print of a painting of a ski racer in a yellow racing outfit skiing downhill amidst an abstract run with trees and snow, a large colour poster with the title " Whistler Resort Getaway", a large colour poster promoting the Whistler Summer Street Festival from between [1987 and the 1990s], a colour poster for the Music in the Mountains Whistler concert series in 1995 and 1996, a print of a vantage map of the Whistler Valley and surrounding mountains in 1994, a large collectors edition poster of the 1998 Canada's World Cup Ski Team, a poster advertising all the summer activities available at Whistler, a poster advertising the Molson World Downhill race that ran in Whistler on March 11th, 1984, a poster for Heli-Skiing Whistler, a poster of Creekside Base and Whistler Mountain at night in the [late 1970s or early 1980s], a poster for the 1984 Volvo Ski Show World Tour, a poster about the 1984 Whistler Winterfest, a large poster for the Shell Cup Canadian Championships for Cross Country Skiing, and a large poster for the Shell Cup Canadian Championships for Alpine Downhill ski racing.

Hallowe'en Funraiser Masquerade Ball Poster - 2002

A poster advertising a Halloween masquerade ball fundraiser to support the Capital Campaign to build the new infrastructure that was originally planned to hold both the Whistler Library and Museum. The poster is from 2002. The poster indicates the event cost $30.00 per person, which included appetizers and desserts. The event took place at the Delta Mountain Resort and had music by DJ Pip of esound production services. The event was from 8:00pm to 1:00am and 100% of the net proceeds went towards the Whistler Library-Museum Capital Campaign. The poster is orange and black and depicts cartoons of a witch flying a broomstick, and a skeleton in a tuxedo.

Inside the Olympics Industry - Whistler Watch Poster

Poster produced by Whistler Watch and The Council of Canadians, advertising a talk called "Inside the Olympic Industry" by Dr. Helen Lensky on the negative aspects of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. A list on the poster argues these negative impacts include the destruction of natural habitat, the forced removal of residents of East Vancouver, the harassment of Olympics critics by the police, and the creation of long-lasting debt. Olympic supporters, critics, VANOC staff, athletes, ISU, and the "curious" are all invited to attend. The talk was held at the Whistler Public Library on Saturday, September 12th [2009], at 6:30 pm.
