History

Chris Stethem was originally from Kingston, Ontario. He came to Whistler in late 1972 and worked on Whistler Mountain Pro Patrol from 1972-76. Subsequently, he became Safety Supervisor and went on to establish a successful avalanche consulting company in the early 1980s. He lived at Tokum Corners from 1980-82 before moving to Canmore, Alberta, where he continues to live. He was married to Sharon Wood, the first Canadian female to summit Mt. Everest, with whom he fathered two sons.
