History

Originally from Minnesota, Rhi's family lived in Everett, Washington where she met her husband, John Philip. From 1920 onwards Rhi came with her husband and their two children, Maison and Anne to spend summers at Rainbow Lodge. Rhi helped out at Rainbow Lodge General Store. After John died in 1926 Rhi and the children continued to visit Alta Lake. They stayed in one of the cabins on the Rainbow property and worked in the lodge and stables. Eventually Rhi moved her family back to Seattle, Washington, but they still headed back to Alta Lake during the summer months. In 1948 when Alex and Myrtle sold Rainbow Lodge Rhi bought one of Bill MacDermott's cabins at the south end of the lake to continue enjoying visits to this valley.
