Tapley's Farm Park Group Photo - Summer 1986

The photograph was taken by Paul Morrison Photography and is glued to cardboard backing with a mat framing it. Caption on the verso reads "Summer 1986 - Tapley's Farm Park" and there was originally a post-it note from Jan Jansen reading "This is why we started a Parks dept. so many years ago - Tapley's Farm circa 1986 Helicopter Park".

Ski Industry Professional 2009 event

File consists of a London Drugs Photo Station CD containing 10 digital photographs. Most show people at a Ski Industry Professional event held in 2009 at Mount Seymour. Six of these photos can be found online at the Mount Seymour History Project's website (see 'Source' below for link).

RMOW Parks and Recreation

Materials relating to Whistler's municipal parks created and collected during Jan Jansen's tenure as Manager of Resort Experience at the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW), including photographs and maps from between 1980 and 1991.

Resort Municipality of Whistler Newsletters

Two Resort Municipality of Whistler newsletters from February 1979 and March 1981 sent to the Alpine Club of Canada Vancouver Section. The issues were read and used by the Section executive of the Club and were previously part of the Section archive.

The newsletters broach subjects including regarding a Garibaldi Lift Company announcement to develop the North Face of Whistler Mountain, the rights to develop Blackcomb Mountain by Fortress Mountain Resorts Ltd, the sod turning ceremony of the Town Core [Whistler Village], announcement for a contract for underground parking, the announcement that Arnold Palmer Enterprises set to design an 18 hole golf course [Whistler Golf Course], the Whistler Volunteer Fire Department, private water systems, the Information Center, thank-yous to council members, welcomes to newly elected council members, highway improvements to the north, subdivision paving, overnight camping, Health Center and ambulance service, efforts to establish an R.C.M.P detachment, establishment of a ski train, television and radio reception, bylaws to control dogs and noise, taxes, establishing a municipal works yard, employee housing, schools, road maintenance, garbage service, zoning, recreational facilities, legal costs, budgets, flooding, gas utilities, Municipal Hall, bus transportation, Sunday shopping, construction, the cemetery, and the Cheakamus River.

Pemberton Secondary School Assignments

Assignments completed by Sara Jennings during her education at Whistler Secondary School between 1990 and 1994.

Includes:

  • "Changing Times", a journal entry for [Grade 11 or 12] English class on how Whistler was changing at the time, including the positive and negative effects of the development of the town.
  • A Social Studies assignment where the student had to clip an article from the newspaper and write about their perspective on it. The article chosen is "Transit shelter agreement" from the Whistler Question. Sara writes about her support for an newer, more extensive public transit system in Whistler.
