Allan Laird was an engineering consultant based in Vancouver who spent many weekends skiing in Whistler. He was born on October 29, 1934 and was raised in Vancouver along with his sisters, Bernice (who eventually married Whistler local Norm Barr) and Anne. He attended Prince of Wales Secondary School, then completed a bachelor degree in engineering at UBC. He went on to complete an MBA at the University of Western Ontario (UWO) in London, ON. He worked as a consultant to various businesses. Allan was married to Arleigh Laird, with whom he had three sons: Bob, Ross, and Bruce. He enjoyed sailing his boat, Big Bird, and skiing in Whistler in his free time. After Arleigh passed away, he spent much time with his companion, Mary Jane Dodge. Allan passed away on December 16, 2022.
