History

Irma Jardine was a custodian and long-time resident of Squamish. She married Jack Jardine, a logger in the Function Junction area of Whistler, on July 27, 1946 after he had returned from fighting in World War II. The couple built a house across the tracks from but on the same lot as Jack's mother, Lizzie Neiland, at 34 1/2 Mile (modern-day Function Junction). Jack and Irma had a son named Donald, and Jack worked at a small logging outfit that was located within walking distance. In 1950, Lizzie Neiland sold the property and Jack and Irma moved to Squamish, where they remained until [at least the 1980s]. Irma worked as a custodian for School District 48 in Squamish from 1957 to 1979, when she retired. In 1980, she and Jack retired to Qualicum Beach, BC, on Vancouver Island. Irma passed away [in the 1990s?].
