Proposal for the "Construction of Crosscountry ski trails in the Lost Lake Municipal Park". Prepared and submitted by Alta Lake Sports Club. The proposal went ahead, although not to the exact specifications in this document. Also includes a double sided map. Side one is a "Whistler area map" scale 1 : 50,000. Side two is a sketched map by Trevor Roote detailing where the proposed trails should be built. Scale 3/4" = 500 ft. Also includes blueprint for the "Ski Support facilities" which were never built. Materials relating to Whistler's municipal parks created and collected during Jan Jansen's tenure as Manager of Resort Experience at the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW), including photographs and maps from between 1980 and 1991.

Resort Municipality of Whistler Newsletters

Two Resort Municipality of Whistler newsletters from February 1979 and March 1981 sent to the Alpine Club of Canada Vancouver Section. The issues were read and used by the Section executive of the Club and were previously part of the Section archive.

The newsletters broach subjects including regarding a Garibaldi Lift Company announcement to develop the North Face of Whistler Mountain, the rights to develop Blackcomb Mountain by Fortress Mountain Resorts Ltd, the sod turning ceremony of the Town Core [Whistler Village], announcement for a contract for underground parking, the announcement that Arnold Palmer Enterprises set to design an 18 hole golf course [Whistler Golf Course], the Whistler Volunteer Fire Department, private water systems, the Information Center, thank-yous to council members, welcomes to newly elected council members, highway improvements to the north, subdivision paving, overnight camping, Health Center and ambulance service, efforts to establish an R.C.M.P detachment, establishment of a ski train, television and radio reception, bylaws to control dogs and noise, taxes, establishing a municipal works yard, employee housing, schools, road maintenance, garbage service, zoning, recreational facilities, legal costs, budgets, flooding, gas utilities, Municipal Hall, bus transportation, Sunday shopping, construction, the cemetery, and the Cheakamus River.

Resort Municipality of Whistler Recreation Master Plan - 1980

Recreation Master Plan created by Professional Environmental Recreation Consultants Ltd. for the Resort Municipality of Whistler in 1980. The report investigates outdoor recreation demand and analyzes Whistler's physical resource base. The report includes multiple trail maps of the Whistler Valley and manually highlighted text [possibly by Geoff Pearce].

Don MacLaurin

Fonds contain the records of Don MacLaurin. MacLaurin was involved in the forestry industry of British Columbia, taught at BCIT, and was heavily involved with the Resort Municipality of Whistler. He was in several forestry associations, including the Canadian Institute of Forestry, British Columbia Foresters, and the Forest Nursery Association of British Columbia. MacLaurin created the Whistler Interpretive Forest. MacLaurin also completed assessments for private developers. Included in the fonds are his personal records.

Most of the records were created in the Whistler region.
