Fonds consists of maps, textual records, and photographs relating to the geography, geology, and natural history of the Coast Mountain range, with particular focus on the Garibaldi Park area. Much of the material relates to Dr. Neal M. Carter (1902-1978), a mountaineer, surveyor, and cartographer and active in the Coast Mountains from the 1920s-1950s. Photographs document glacier recession in the Whistler area.

Series consists of 6 photocopied pages from two separate volumes of The Varsity Outdoor Club Journal, published by the University of British Columbia. Both sets of photocopies include the title page of the journal, a black-and-white photograph, and articles.
Volume II (1959) includes a photograph of Mt. Logan from Hubbard-Donjek Neve and a letter from mountaineer Dr. Neal M. Carter recounting mountain-climbing expeditions and the naming of peaks in Garibaldi Park in the 1920s. The letter has an introduction written by Karl Ricker, the donor.
Volume VIII (1965) includes a photograph of Veeocee Mountain and Ubyssey Glacier, and an article by Neal M. Carter, “Some Notes on the Historical Background of the Alta Lake – Fitzsimmons Creek Area," recounting various alpine expeditions made in the area (primarily in the 1920s).
