Mandy Rousseau

Draw entry answer by Mandy Rousseau for the Whistler Museum event "Whistler's Mountain Identity [...]". In response to the question "What would you like to say about the past, present, and future of Whistler's Mountain Identity?" Mandy responded:

"Past: Inspiring! People followed their dreams & a community was built around them.
Present: Questionable. We're heavily influenced by our American neighbours & W[histler ]B[lackcomb] has been bought by an American resort. There is a lot of unease.
Future: Hopeful. Circling back to our past, we are a passionate bunch & I'm certain that whatever we the collective identify as our next chapter, economic or otherwise, it will be exciting & lead to awesome-ness.

PS: Bring back Icon Gone!!!"

[Note: Icon Gone was a former Whistler Museum event in the late 2000s]

Cathy Jewett

Draw entry answer by Cathy Jewett for the Whistler Museum event "Whistler's Mountain Identity [...]". In response to the question "What would you like to say about the past, present, and future of Whistler's Mountain Identity?" Cathy responded:

"The Past - It felt like I lived in the bush - wait a minute - I did!
The Present - We have grown out of what we thought was the future
The Future - When will enough be enough? When will we learn and adjust to what we have and cease our quest for enough?"

Anonymous [1]

Draw entry answer by an anonymous entrant for the Whistler Museum event "Whistler's Mountain Identity [...]". In response to the question "What would you like to say about the past, present, and future of Whistler's Mountain Identity?" The individual responded:

"We live less than 2 hr. from an international airport in one of the world's most desirable cities. Of course there will (always!) be 30,000+ people on the ski hill. Is it time to look at OCP? Is it unrealistic to presume we can preserve our 'little town'. Too much 'wo[sic]-is-me'. Just get to the hill earlier + use better wax!"

Kary York

Draw entry answer by Kary York for the Whistler Museum event "Whistler's Mountain Identity [...]". In response to the question "What would you like to say about the past, present, and future of Whistler's Mountain Identity?" Kary responded:

"Past: The mountain was in its infancy, before the crowds & masses discovered it.
Now: Vail takes over - what does that mean? Better infrastructure, higher prices on food, more ritzy? Can they bring even more people? Do they want to?
Future: Better transportation, more options with service for non-skiers, those that want a different winter experience and summer - more variety of events - more mountain options."
