Don MacLaurin

Fonds contain the records of Don MacLaurin. MacLaurin was involved in the forestry industry of British Columbia, taught at BCIT, and was heavily involved with the Resort Municipality of Whistler. He was in several forestry associations, including the Canadian Institute of Forestry, British Columbia Foresters, and the Forest Nursery Association of British Columbia. MacLaurin created the Whistler Interpretive Forest. MacLaurin also completed assessments for private developers. Included in the fonds are his personal records.

Most of the records were created in the Whistler region.

Investing in the Dream

The 2010 Olympic Winter Games budget for the Resort Municipality of Whistler, released in 2008. The manual covers an executive summary, an introduction to the budget, information about what will happen in Whistler after the games and proposed long term plans, how the Olympic games will provide Whistler with long-lasting legacies, the projected return on investments for Whistler, Whistler's investments in the games (both direct and indirect), and a breakdown of the budget by area.

Menu for the Earl of Wessex's visit to Whistler

A square [dinner] menu printed on brown and pearlescent cardstock paper, prepared for His Royal Highness, the Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex by the Resort Municipality of Whistler [during his visit to the Paralympic Games in 2010]. The menu includes a first course of hot smoked salmon, muskox short rib ravioli, and cipolini onion. The second course was Blueberry Hill venison, sweet potato, pistachio brown butter, and a blueberry jus. Dessert was a maple flan with vanilla poached pears followed by tea and coffee. The Menu also displays the Tourism Whistler logo.

Olympic Games Planner

A daily calendar and planner entitled "A Local's Guide to the 2010 Olympic Games". It includes tips for planning around the Olympic Games, as well as information on how access the events and torch relays, with a focus on February and March of 2010. It also includes maps and information on what's happening in and around Whistler is 2010, a short history of the Olympic journey, and interesting facts. The planner is divided into Live, Work and Play sections to provide locals with helpful information.
