Ski the Outer Limits

Ski video from 1968 which includes many types of ski racing and competitions including; slalom, giant slalom, downhill, and big jumps. This video acts somewhat as an instructional video as well giving many tips for skiers on form and technique.

This film was filmed at multiple ski resorts such as; Vail, Chamonix, Jackson Hole, Taos, Chamrousse, Megève, and Kitzbühel.

The skiers in the film are; Arthur Furrer, Roger Staub, Herman Gollner, Thomas Leroy, Bill Peterson, Jean Mayer, Dadou Mayer, Roger Bozon, and Harry Frishman

Marker Ski

Footage of the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup. The video was sponsored by Marker, maker of ski bindings, the footage takes place in Austria and Germany, specifically at ski resorts such as Garmisch, and Kitzbühel.

The racers seen are; Ingemar Stenmark, Phil Mahre, Klaus Heidegger, and Franz Klammer

Invitation to Skiing

Ski video to promote skiing to people. It was produced by Warren Miller, and supported by the National Ski Areas Association, Ski Industries America, and Coca-Cola. The video is trying to convince people to come out and ski by showing all the possibilities of things to do on skis. They also show all the advantages to skiing, such as being a family activity. They show that people of any athletic ability can ski, they also show that it isn't as expensive as people think.

The French ski instructors' union presents the French alpine ski team, or how to become a champion. Physical training starting in the fall, skiing techniques and competition preparation. Takes place in the French Alps and displays a variety of ski disciplines such as racing, slalom, and downhill.

Items include photographs and negatives featuring or related to Dave Murray in 1981. Photos found within original Film shop paper envelope and were enclosed in a yellow mailing envelope with Dave Murray's 1981 home address. Envelopes have been stored with the photographs.

Photographs include a large black and white image of the 1981 K Way-Northsport Team with the names of individuals in the photograph listed on the back, a colour photograph of Dave Murray shaking hands with B.C.'s Premier W. R. Bennett in 1981, and two small colour photographs of mountain scenery, and a large tree [possibly taken in Jasper, Alberta as per the yellow envelope sending address].

The colour negatives are associated with items ABAN_01_001_003-4 but also include photographs of [Dave Murray], trees, and [a patio].

Four promotional paper materials for two ski racing documentary films featuring Dave Murray from 1975 and 1976 (one duplicate present). One poster is promoting a film titled "No Way They Want to Slow Down" and was co produced by the National Film Board of Canada and the Department of External Affairs. The film is 28 minutes long and follows the Canadian Ski Team in Chile and Argentina during a training session in August of 1976. One film is from 1975 titled "Descent" or "La Descente" in the French version and is a 10 minute short documentary focusing solely on Dave Murray and a World Cup that was shot over a six month period in both Europe and South America. The posters include names of directors, producers, and other film crew.
