Fonds contain the records of Don MacLaurin. MacLaurin was involved in the forestry industry of British Columbia, taught at BCIT, and was heavily involved with the Resort Municipality of Whistler. He was in several forestry associations, including the Canadian Institute of Forestry, British Columbia Foresters, and the Forest Nursery Association of British Columbia. MacLaurin created the Whistler Interpretive Forest. MacLaurin also completed assessments for private developers. Included in the fonds are his personal records.

Most of the records were created in the Whistler region.

Documents pertaining to Don MacLaurin's working sabbatical, which involved a trip to Australia. File includes lists of contact information for Don's sabbatical application; correspondence from the International Society of Tropical Foresters, Inc. regarding membership renewal for 1986, with a form for membership renewal; notes and itinerary ideas for Don MacLaurin's Australia trip.

Documents pertaining to Don MacLaurin's education. File includes unit notes from Forest Service Training School; a BCIT certificate of completion awarded to Don MacLaurin for the completion of a course in hospitality; report cards for Don MacLaurin's fourth and fifth years during his Bachelor's degree at the University of New Brunswick; a report card for Don MacLaurin's second grade, dated 1936-1937.

Records concerning the Whistler Mountain skier usage report by BCIT Students from 1971. The file includes correspondence, a draft copy of the Whistler Mountain User Study (1976); an edited copy of the students' ski report with editorial notes.

File includes correspondence regarding the submission and presentation of Don MacLaurin's thesis to the Association of British Columbia Foresters (now the Association of British Columbia Forest Professionals), and a list of figures related to his thesis. The correspondence involves the acceptance of Don MacLaurin's thesis title and outline, requests for a timely submission of his final thesis, and requests for a deadline extension. The file also includes a canvas map related to Don MacLaurin's thesis of the Texada and Lasqueti Islands, made in 1954.
