A pamphlet made for the opening of the original Myrtle Philip Elementary School which opened October 26, 1976. The pamphlet lays out the programme for the opening day. The programme begins with O Canada, followed by an Invocation by Mr. Gary McLeod, then a welcome by Mr. Fougberg (chairman of the board), then a greeting from the Mayor Pat Carleton, then some remarks from the Architect Mr. Davies and by one of the builders Mr. Storm, this will be followed by the entertainment provided by the pupils and introduced by the Principal Mr. Griffin, then there will be a thanking of the pupils by Mrs. M. Marchant, this will be followed by the introduction of the guest speaker Mr. E. A. Maglio the districts superintendent of schools, then an address and unveiling of plaque by Mrs. J. Phillipson the associate deputy minister of education, and finally closing remarks by Mrs. M. Philip.
The school opened with 57 students but the number of students quickly outgrew the school and a new school was built in 1992 and the original Myrtle Philip Elementary School was torn down to make way for Whistler Village, and now the Delta hotel sits where the school used to be.

A large print of Whistler Village presented to Ray Torresan & Associates on the occasion of the Founders Club Dinner on May 15, 1981.

Items donated by John and Joyce Hetherington, including a poster of an artist's conception of Whistler Village presented to John Hetherington (RMOW Councillor at the time) on the occasion of the Founders Club Dinner on May 15, 1981, and an account ballot for the 1976 municipal election where Pat Carleton was voted into office as mayor.

Rotarians and guests were feted with steak prepared by Rudi Hoffmann and lobster, flowing in from Nova Scotia, boiled by Ted Nebbeling, District Governor Ralph Crawford also installed Sid Young as the service organization's new president, taking over from Geoff Pearce. The one-pounder above was made by Great West Cannon Co. of Granville Island and is authentic in size and workmanship to the original. Davidson says. It was often hoisted into a ship's rigging and used to fire nails and other shrapnel at the enemy. Davidson uses the cannon to proclaim the open various sporting events but two years ago found himself in RCMP lock-up for four hours when a policeman arrested him for discharging a firearm in the municipality. But it's all in good fund, and the only thing fired is paper.
