Series consists of meeting minutes, newspaper and magazine clippings, correspondence, a report, and a feasibility study relating to the development of Whistler as a ski hill and a residential area in the 1960s. There is a particular focus on Whistler Alpine Villa Ltd., for which Hartland M. MacDougall (donor's father) worked. Also mentioned are the Whistler Skier's Chapel and Garibaldi Lifts Ltd. The items are arranged in the order they were received from the donor.
Material donated by Sonya McCarthy gathered from her time as Alderman on the Municipal Council (RMOW), working for the Whistler Area Information Office, doing community work, and from Whistler Mountain. Documents include personal files, correspondence, pamphlets, posters, maps, and other promotional material regarding events, planning, accommodation, and services in the Whistler area from 1980 to 1996.
