Fonds contain the records of Don MacLaurin. MacLaurin was involved in the forestry industry of British Columbia, taught at BCIT, and was heavily involved with the Resort Municipality of Whistler. He was in several forestry associations, including the Canadian Institute of Forestry, British Columbia Foresters, and the Forest Nursery Association of British Columbia. MacLaurin created the Whistler Interpretive Forest. MacLaurin also completed assessments for private developers. Included in the fonds are his personal records.

Most of the records were created in the Whistler region.

Series consists of documents pertaining to the Whistler Interpretive Forest and the Cheakamus Community Forest. Series includes maps of the area and boundary proposals; pamphlets and drafts for self-guided tours; filming permits and applications for projects within the Whistler Interpretive Forest; budgets and invoices related to the upkeep of the Interpretive Forest; drafts and information on interpretive signage; correspondence related to the Whistler Interpretive Forest and the Cheakamus Community Forest; Forest Development Plans.

Documents related to the Whistler Demonstration Forest, now known as the Whistler Interpretive Forest. Files include forest maps and diagrams; budgets; correspondence; meeting minutes, notes, and agendas; proposals; sign information.

Documents related to a self-guided tour brochure for the Whistler Interpretive Forest and a Winter Recreation Guide pamphlet that Don MacLaurin was working on. The file includes maps of the interpretive forest and area; handmade drafts of pamphlet plans; information for panels of pamphlets; copies of panels from a cross country ski trails pamphlet; map of Hunters Range Snowmobile Trails in Salmon Arm Forest District; copies of Hunters Range Snowmobile Trails pamphlet; map of Winter Recreation Trails in the Holy Cross Ranger District, White River National Forest; notes on potential writing for pamphlet panels and stops on the self-guided tour.
