Don MacLaurin

Fonds contain the records of Don MacLaurin. MacLaurin was involved in the forestry industry of British Columbia, taught at BCIT, and was heavily involved with the Resort Municipality of Whistler. He was in several forestry associations, including the Canadian Institute of Forestry, British Columbia Foresters, and the Forest Nursery Association of British Columbia. MacLaurin created the Whistler Interpretive Forest. MacLaurin also completed assessments for private developers. Included in the fonds are his personal records.

Most of the records were created in the Whistler region.

Fond consists of material donated by Gordon McKeever and includes promotional stickers for Whistler Mountain and Whistler Blackcomb, a promotional book for Whistler's restaurants, four travel planners created by the Whistler Resort Association to promote both Winter and Summer seasons between 1997 and 2000, a paper spiral bound guide for Whistler Resort Association (WRA) members from November 15th, 1996, a 1999 VHS promotional resort video guide for the Resort Municipality of Whistler, a variety of materials supporting the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, four paper business directory booklets printed for the Whistler Chamber of Commerce dating from 1994, 1996, and 1999, and sixteen posters depicting a variety of subject matter including Whistler festivals, ski racing events, concert series, car shows, heli-skiing, Molson and Shell Cups, and Whistler Resort tourism.

Olympic Games Planner

A daily calendar and planner entitled "A Local's Guide to the 2010 Olympic Games". It includes tips for planning around the Olympic Games, as well as information on how access the events and torch relays, with a focus on February and March of 2010. It also includes maps and information on what's happening in and around Whistler is 2010, a short history of the Olympic journey, and interesting facts. The planner is divided into Live, Work and Play sections to provide locals with helpful information.

Presentation Booklet - 2010 Winter Olympic Bid Supporter Conference

A spiral bound paper booklet created for the Vancouver Whistler 2010 Bid Corporation Supporter Conference from November 23, 2001. The booklet aimed to present information on the bid's progress and covers a range of topics including sports and venues, Paralympic events, Greater Vancouver, operations planning, transportation, accommodation, health services, sustainability and the environment, Squamish and Lil'wat Nations, culture, finances, government partnership, key dates, pros and cons, marketing, host city competitors, fundraising, branding, and speaker biographies of those presenting at the conference. The cover of the booklet is blue with a picture of [Blackcomb Glacier]. The back cover has the sponsors of the 2010 Bid Corporation. Several pages have hand-written notes.
