Archibald Property on Alta Lake

Photograph of a building taken from across Alta Lake around 1930. The building is presumably that belonging to Ernie Archibald. The inscription on the verso reads "Archibald Place, Alta Lake, about 1930."

Princes St. from Scott Monument, Edinburgh

Postcard labelled "Princes St. from Scott Monument, looking West, Edinburgh" sent from cousin William in North Berwick to Miss Jenny Jardine. The front of the card has an oval-shaped, tinted photograph of an Edinburgh street, with buildings and a garden. Around this photograph is a design of red and green tartan with leaves. The words "ROYAL STUART" are printed at the bottom right.

On the back of the card is a brief handwritten message from William to Jennie Jardine. Her address was originally written as being in West Vancouver, but this has been crossed out and replaced with Alta Lake. There is a red one-penny British stamp in the top right corner. Card is postmarked 5 PM May 31 1921 in North Berwick and June 20 1921 in North Vancouver.

Horseshoe Bay

Item is a postcard labelled "Horseshoe Bay, BC" sent from [Ins.?] to Mrs. Wallace O. (Jenny) Betts. On the front of the card is a black and white photograph of a marina in Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver. On the back of the card is a handwritten message from the sender to Jenny Betts at Alta Lake. There is a brown two-cent Canadian stamp in the top right corner. The card is postmarked July 22, 1938 in Whytecliff, B.C.

Letter, Pat O'Neill to Jack Jardine

Item is a letter written by Pat O'Neil to Jack Jardine, dated March 10, 1940. It was written after Pat had left Alta Lake and returned to Winnipeg, Manitoba.

In the letter, Pat thanks Jack for his last letter and discusses his upcoming marriage, his job, the weather, and his brothers, one of whom has joined the army. He notes that Jenny is "expecting again" (her second child, Samuel) and inquires after her husband, Wallace, and daughter, Louise. He closes by asking Jack to write him again.
