These files contain documents, concept plans, maps, and architectural drawings relating to the development of Whistler Village and base area facilities. These items were created by Eldon Beck and his associates during the planning stages of Whistler Village.

Photographs of an exploratory trip in the mountains around Alta Lake to search for a suitable location for a ski hill. The group of four men comprised of George Bury, George Eisenschimmel, Howard Hamil (all from the Holyburn Ski Club on the North Shore) and a guide, whose name has been forgotten. They explored around Cheakamus Lake, Black Tusk, Garibaldi Lake, and the Barrier. The group were dropped off by float plane on Cheakamus Lake and exited down the Barrier. They then hiked to the rail line, where they flagged down the Pacific Great Eastern train to Squamish, and then took the boat back to Vancouver. The ski hill plans were never carried out due to the interruption of the Second World War.

Items donated by Allan Waisman, of Waisman Dewar Macdonald planning, including a laminated booklet titled "Whistler Village / A Resort Community," which was the first official plan for Whistler Village.

Proposal for the "Construction of Crosscountry ski trails in the Lost Lake Municipal Park". Prepared and submitted by Alta Lake Sports Club. The proposal went ahead, although not to the exact specifications in this document. Also includes a double sided map. Side one is a "Whistler area map" scale 1 : 50,000. Side two is a sketched map by Trevor Roote detailing where the proposed trails should be built. Scale 3/4" = 500 ft. Also includes blueprint for the "Ski Support facilities" which were never built. 003: Postcard with postmark/cancellation at Alta Lake BC 1 Aug 1917 and another at 6.45 29 Aug 1917 and a cancelled Canada Postage stamp. Postcard addressed to Mrs Charles Woollard. Reads: "Aug 1st, 17, remember how your horse balked at this spot once? Dolly arrived yesterday, hope you enjoy your holiday in the north and will be able to get...[unfortunately the last line has been cut off]." The recto of the postcard shows Cheakamus Canyon, the text on the postcard reads "536 Cheakamus Canyon, near Watson BC, Pacific Great Eastern Rly, Photo by C Bradbury". The sender of the postcard has marked a point on the canyon with an "x" and has written "where we rode, an excellent picture.".

007: Photograph of the school children and their teacher Betty Woollard (wearing a hat) standing outside the school building in the snow. The inscription on the reverse reads "Alta Lake School, 1937."
008: Photograph of a group of people waiting for the train at Alta Lake station. The inscription on the verso reads "1937, L to R, Bill Bailiff, Mr and Mrs Racey, Ed Droll, Betty Woollard, Larry, Flo and Bob Williamson, (children?)."

Papers relating to opening day of the Peak 2 Peak gondola on December 12, 2008.

The donors, Andy and Florence Petersen were nominated by the community to be on the first Peak 2 Peak gondola ride from Blackcomb to Whistler along with twenty other citizens of Whistler.

• All the titles come from the plaques that the photographs were displayed with at the Crystal, except for the ones with asterisks, which are missing their plaques. The plaques are stored with the photographs.

Items donated by John and Joyce Hetherington, including a poster of an artist's conception of Whistler Village presented to John Hetherington (RMOW Councillor at the time) on the occasion of the Founders Club Dinner on May 15, 1981, and an account ballot for the 1976 municipal election where Pat Carleton was voted into office as mayor.

Fire Prevention newsletter of the Alta Lake Whistler Mountain District Volunteer Fire Department for 1965. The newsletter contains information on fires in the previous winter, information on fire prevention, details of the various zones of Whistler, and the Captains in charge of each area. The newsletter was written by Fire Chief, Dick Fairhurst.
