Motorists, take extra caution now as the little ones head back to school.

02-381-34. Pg. 11. Caption: The Silverstreak (aka Mike Silver) slid through town last week spreading $50 and $100 bills around the Longhorn Saturday afternoon. Contestants sang, ate raw eggs, stuffed cream-filled doughnuts in their faces, ate cherry pies and generally vied for various prizes offered by the Streak. Michele Gibson from CKVU tried to add a bit of class to the Streak's performance but the combination of free food and free Kamikazes proved too much for even Gibson.

Nearly everyone, it seemed, sang along as they waved the Maple Leaf.

John Johnston, Deputy Lands Minister and Interim President for WLC Developments, reports that the financing agreement between the ministry and the municipality for the site has essentially been completed, and WLC is still willing to purchase the project from the RMOW. "Essentially, we've offered to get the municipality out of a problem," Johnston said. The project is expected to go into cost overruns, the amount of which no on has been able, or willing to determine.
02-346-248. Pg. 3. Caption: [bottom] Whistler's MLA John Reynolds was in town june 16 en route back to Vancouver from a trip to see constituents in D'Arcy. Reynolds said he will be meeting with the Minister of Highways this week to discuss ongoing work on Highway 99 and will ask the department to remove the "drive at your own risk" signs. He also promised to support Whistler Health Planning Society's application to the province for operating funds. Reynolds said he want to be accessible to Whistler constituents and will visit regularly.

First place winners for each gard include:Grade Seven, "Lasers" by Lisa Morten and Karen Wylie; Grade Six, "Colors and Heat Absorption" by Michelle Rennie and Andrea Wuolle; Grade Five, "Weather Reporting" by Stephanie Fosty,; Grade Four, "Guinea Pigs" by Jennifer Croghan and Melanie Busdo; Grade Three, "Eclipses" by Madeline Domries; Grade Two: "Volcanoes" by Briton Liakakos; Grade One, "Monkeys" by Justine Adams, Davey Blaylock [Barr], Marco Feller, Casey Greenwood, Aaron Gross, Cory Gudmundson, Yosuke Hamazaki, Jake Humphrey, Mark Jennings and Heather Paul and "Pulleys" by Christopher Systad; Kindergarten, "The Seashore" by James Balfour, Armen Evrensel, Sarah Fennell, Noah Fordham, Christopher Forrest, Moriah Johnston and Tyler Manson.
