The reverse is annotated with the following note: "I couldn't resist sending you this picture. I found the negative among some pictures. Wish I new [sic.] the date when it was taken. Maybe you can guess. It must have been a long time ago for you look so young - ha ha - merry christmas, alice."

Jean Tapley is gazing into the forest while traversing on skis with friend and dog, Mutt, Sewell Tapley's canine. The cross country ski style is with one pole, like the Norwegian ski.

Message reads : "Dearest - / How do you like the new style post cards? Dr + Mrs Naismith are here - Look fine - send love to you - Wish you were here now, but Sept will be a lovely holiday time. Dad is fine. Was very pleased with your letter. / Best love Myrtle." Verso bears "POST CARD" stamp, postmark (Alta Lake B.C. July 13 27) and 2 cent stamp at upper right.
