Series consists of letters, bankruptcy papers, receipts, cheque stubs, postcards, a booklet, and a letter bill relating to the life of the Jardine-Neiland family at Alta Lake, as well as travels abroad. The postcards have been designated as a separate file.

  • File 001 - 16 postcards to members of the Jardine-Neiland family from friends and relatives in Europe, the USA and Canada, c. early 1900s-1946.
  • 002: letter from Pat O'Neil (in Winnipeg, Manitoba) to Jack Jardine, March 10 1940.
  • 003: Function Junction Mill bankruptcy papers.

Textual materials donated by Louise Smith on August 13, 2020 regarding the history of the Jardine-Neiland and Betts families, including memoirs by her mother, Jenny Betts (nee Jardine), a Christmas card from Grace Archibald to Jenny Jardine dated 1937, and a Pacific Great Eastern Railway Company track tie order for November 22, 1937 addressed to Wallace Betts.

002: Photograph of Grace Woollard on the steamship coming to preempt #279 parcel on the east side of Alta Lake. Inscription on verso reads: "Preemptor no 279"
003: Postcard with postmark/cancellation at Alta Lake BC 1 Aug 1917 and another at 6.45 29 Aug 1917 and a cancelled Canada Postage stamp. Postcard addressed to Mrs Charles Woollard. Reads: "Aug 1st, 17, remember how your horse balked at this spot once? Dolly arrived yesterday, hope you enjoy your holiday in the north and will be able to get...[unfortunately the last line has been cut off]." The recto of the postcard shows Cheakamus Canyon, the text on the postcard reads "536 Cheakamus Canyon, near Watson BC, Pacific Great Eastern Rly, Photo by C Bradbury". The sender of the postcard has marked a point on the canyon with an "x" and has written "where we rode, an excellent picture.".
