Newsletter August 1968

The Whistler Mountain Ski Club newsletter issued in August 1968. The newsletter gives information about past activities, including its founding in March of 1968, its application to join the Canadian Amateur Ski Association, a dance held on April 13, 1968, the first Garibaldi Spring Slalom on April 28, 1968, and a wine party at the Roundhouse on May 18, 1968. It also gives information about future plans for social activities, racing instruction in cooperation with Jim McConkey and Byron Gracie, the Nancy Greene Little League instruction for children under 14, hosting races, the Annual General Meeting to be held October 1, 1968, and information about applications for membership.

du Maurier International Ladies Giant Slalom Official Results

The official results for the du Maurier International Ladies Giant Slalom held at Whistler Mountain on January 28 and 29, 1967. The Canadian Amateur Ski Association logo is also at the top of the page. The first page features a watermark image of a ski racer. The jury's names and countries are listed on the first page. The racers' place, start number, name, country, time, and FIS points are listed on both the first and second pages. The second page lists the disqualifications, did not starts and did not finishes, and is signed by the referee.

du Maurier International Men's Slalom Unofficial Results

The unofficial results list from the du Maurier International Men's Slalom race held at Whistler Mountain on January 28 and 29, 1967. The list gives placing, start number, name, country, times for runs 1 and 2, and the total time for each racer. It also lists individuals that did not start or finish. The back contains some unrelated text handwritten in pencil that reads "How Are You", "Hi I Like You" and "Hi From Wendy Wendy."

Garibaldi International Summer Ski Camp Information Package

A Garibaldi International Summer Ski Camp at Whistler Mountain information package of four pages. Page 1 features a picture of a skier and advertises guest coach Art Furrer. There is also information about the dates of the sessions, the camp and coaching staff, the locations, the instruction and the age range of participants. The second page gives short biographies of 4 coaches: Ornulf Johnsen, Art Furrer, Al Menzies and Joe Csizmazia. It also covers the purpose of the camp and details what kind of equipment to bring and insurance to have. The third page is an application form for the camp with a stapled attachment indicating the dates of the second session have been moved to July 1- July 10. The fourth page features three images: "The gondola-chairlift complex will take students up 4000 ft. to the upper T-bar slopes", "The 3/4 mile long T-bar will take students to 6420 ft. above sea level where snow conditions are good even in July", and "Ornulf Johnsen practices slalom on the upper slopes of Whistler Mountain." The fourth page also contains a letter from the director Ornulf Johnsen about the naming of the camp, qualifications necessary to attend, camp schedule, age limits, evening activities, supervision, and end of camp races.
