This fonds consists of photographs, documents, audiovisual material and a tape relating primarily to the Toni Sailer and Dave Murray Summer Ski Camps held on Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains (especially during the 1970s-1990s when donor Alex Douglas worked there). Additional material relates to skiing in the Whistler area and in general.

File contains newspapers and news articles relating to ski racing, the Toni Sailer Summer Ski Camp picnic, development of Whistler as a resort and ski destination, and the production of a film about Whistler's history.

Dog Days of Winter: The Birth & Boom of Freestyle Skiing

Item is a documentary about the birth, development, and eventual decline of freestyle skiing in the 1970s. The film features classic ski footage and interviews with athletes such as Wayne Wong, Stein Eriksen, Bobbie Burns, Suzy Chaffee and Jonny Moseley, who helped pioneer the sport. Also included are a trailer and an "In Memoriam" video. Produced and directed by Brian Gilmore; presented by True Grit Productions.

Items 'a' and 'b' are identical copies of the same film.

Series consists of videocassettes and DVDs primarily containing footage of the Dave Murray Summer Ski Camp in the 1980s and 1990s. Most of these are highlight videos showcasing weekly activities at the camp; others are advertisements or promotional videos aired on TV. There are also two documentaries: "Sword of the Lord," about Crazy Canucks member 'Jungle' Jim Hunter, and "Dog Days of Winter," about the birth and boom of freestyle skiing.

Dave Murray Summer Ski Camp 1996 1-3

Video contains footage of weeks 1-3 at the 1996 Dave Murray Summer Ski Camp with background music. It opens with brief footage of skiing, sailing, and swimming at the 1966 Whistler Summer Ski Camp, then transitions to footage of campers skiing and snowboarding, riding the chair lift, roller blading, windsurfing, biking, rock climbing, swimming, racing, playing tennis and frisbee, using a trapeze, and participating in skits and talent shows at the 1996 camp.

Pontiac World of Skiing - Ski Camps Special

Video contains episode #96-17 of the TV show Pontiac World of Skiing, which focuses on summer ski camps. Part of the episode is devoted to the Dave Murray Summer Ski Camp and was filmed during Adult Week 1995. It features footage of ski camp activities and short interviews with Greg Lee, 'Dr. Ed,' Stephanie Sloan, Felix Belczyk, and Wayne Wong. The episode aired during the second last week of March, 1996.

Other topics featured in the episode include: freestyle skiing at Mount Hood, how to prevent theft of ski equipment, advice on making turns, a message from the Canadian Ski Patrol, Columbia's best runs, and advice on tipping your skis.
