Histórico

Berni Huber is a German retired alpine ski racer who competed in the 1992 Winter Olympics. He was born on July 11, 1967 in Obermaiselstein, Germany. He made his first appearance at the international level at the 1985 World Junior Championships in Jasná, where he finished 12th in the downhill, 24th in the giant slalom, 8th in the slalom, and winning the bronze medal in the combined event. He won his first points in the FIS World Cup in January 1988 in Bad Kleinkirchheim. There he finished eleventh in the combined. A year later, he achieved his first top ten placement in the World Cup in the combined at Wengen. He competed in his first World Ski Championships in Vail in 1989. There, he only competed in the combined and achieved the best World Championship result of his career with 10th place. He celebrated his greatest World Cup success with his only podium finish in December 1990 in Val Gardena. He finished the descent on the Saslong in second place behind Swiss Franz Heinzer and ahead of Atle Skårdal from Norway. Shortly afterwards, at the 1991 World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, he finished 12th in the downhill. 40th place in the overall World Cup and 13th place in the downhill World Cup in the 1990/1991 season were his best results. At the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics, Huber finished 19th in the downhill and 31st in the super-G. In the 1992/1993 season, Huber fell, with a cruciate ligament tear. In 1995, he became German Downhill Champion and in 1996 German Champion in Super-G. He finished 31st and 34th in Downhill and Super-G at the 1996 World Championships in Sierra Nevada. A serious fall in the World Cup downhill on January 11, 1997 in Chamonix ended his career prematurely. After his retirement, Huber worked as a trainer until 2003, most recently as a men's European Cup trainer in the German Ski Association. After this, he was managing director of the Grasgehren ski area. In the 2019/2020 season, he returned to the German Ski Association as head student coach.
