Dorothy Hoodspith was married to Cloudesley Shovell Quentin "Claude" Hoodspith, the owner and publisher of the Squamish Times between 1957 and 1992, as well as the Lions Gate Times. In the late-1980s, the Dorothy Hoodspith Award was created in her honour, given to newspapers for service to the community above and beyond a newspaper's normal mission.
