Hal "Halby" Gunby is. He was born to Kenneth "Ross" Gunby and Donna Ruth Gunby in Carlisle, ON in 1959. He has a sister named Nancy. He started in the ski industry in 1974 and spent from 1977 to 1986 teaching and coaching skiing in Europe. He moved to Whistler in 1986, where he has worked for Whistler Blackcomb ski school (since 1986) and Whistler Mountain Ski Club (since 2003). In addition, he gives courses for the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation. He and his wife, Nicole, live in Whistler.
