Geschiedenis
Howard Goldsmid was a Canadian butcher and RCAF food service groundscrewman. He was stationed in the Aleutian Islands as part of the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. After the war, he ran seven butcher shops in Vancouver along with his wife, Lilian. Howard and Lil met during World War II, while rollerskating. Howard and Lil juggled work with weekend warrioring in Whistler. They had two children: Leslee and Bruce. Active in ski racing, an avid climber and cyclist, a builder, and helpful neighbour, Howard blazed a trail in Whistler’s early years and humbly gave back to the town, putting in long hours at the food bank. The couple built their second home in Whistler in 1969/1970, and were early investors in the Clock Tower building in Whistler Village as it was being built in the 1980s. Howard and Lil moved to Whistler full-time in 1987. For their 65th wedding anniversary, Howard and Lil held a town party at Dusty’s to raise over $12,000 for the food bank. He passed away in June 2021.
