History
Ruth Gallagher (nee Murray), along with her husband, Ray Gallagher, ran Brandywine Falls Resort in the 1960s. They bought the land around Brandywine Falls from Charlie Conroy. They had a child, Julie Gallagher, who grew up at the resort, and Ruth's mother, Cecilia Ruth Murray, also lived with them there to help with its operations. The family hoped that the waterfall and its surrounding area would one day become a provincial park, and it did so in 1973. Ruth was also an amateur historian, and worked to collect stories about the Brandywine, Alta Lake, and McGuire areas along Highway 99.
