      History

John "Jack" Alexander Findlay was an early Whistler resident. He was born in British Columbia and worked as a miner. He preempted the land that the Linehams later bought for their mink farm, and also owned land across the creek from the Tapley's farm which he rented to the Woods family for only the cost of the property taxes. The property included a house, barn, hayfield, and garden. According to the 1921 census, Jack was living in Alta Lake (now called Whistler).
