History
Odd Eidsvik was an accountant, alderman, Prince Rupert Port Authority Director, board member of the Prince Rupert Airport Society, member of the Rotary Club of Prince Rupert, charter member of Hecate Strait Rotary Club, and a multiple recipient of the Paul Harris Award. He grew up in Dodge Cover, BC, and first worked as a commercial fisherman before becoming an accountant. He worked as a chartered accountant for more than 50 years and was a board member for the BC Institute of Chartered Accountants. He was married to Nancy Eidsvik, with whom he had nine children - David, Shelley, Phil, Jean Paul, Chris, Reider, Sherry, Jennifer, and Brad - and later 16 grandchildren. He was a Seafarers Society member, Badminton Club member, Concert Society member, Laurier Club member, and Ski Club charter member, also enjoying fishing in his spare time. He passed away on June 12, 2015. To recognize his contributions to the city of Prince Rupert, on June 1, 2020 Prince Rupert Rotary Club installed a commissioned hand-crafted sign to denote the Odd Eidsvik Memorial Park, in honour of their long-term club member.
