Whistler Business Directories

Four paper business directory booklets printed for the Whistler Chamber of Commerce dating from 1994, 1996, and 1999. There are two of the 1999 directories (one is a duplicate). Each directory has the same cover image of a log cabin created by local Whistler artist Isobel Maclaurin. The 1994 cover image is blue, the 1996 cover image is red, and the 1999 cover image is gold. The directories list all Whistler businesses breaking them down by service sector, as well as providing an alphabetical list.

Textual materials donated by Louise Smith on August 13, 2020 regarding the history of the Jardine-Neiland and Betts families, including memoirs by her mother, Jenny Betts (nee Jardine), a Christmas card from Grace Archibald to Jenny Jardine dated 1937, and a Pacific Great Eastern Railway Company track tie order for November 22, 1937 addressed to Wallace Betts.

Ski the Outer Limits

Ski video from 1968 which includes many types of ski racing and competitions including; slalom, giant slalom, downhill, and big jumps. This video acts somewhat as an instructional video as well giving many tips for skiers on form and technique.

This film was filmed at multiple ski resorts such as; Vail, Chamonix, Jackson Hole, Taos, Chamrousse, Megève, and Kitzbühel.

The skiers in the film are; Arthur Furrer, Roger Staub, Herman Gollner, Thomas Leroy, Bill Peterson, Jean Mayer, Dadou Mayer, Roger Bozon, and Harry Frishman

  • "Changing Times", a journal entry for [Grade 11 or 12] English class on how Whistler was changing at the time, including the positive and negative effects of the development of the town.
  • A Social Studies assignment where the student had to clip an article from the newspaper and write about their perspective on it. The article chosen is "Transit shelter agreement" from the Whistler Question. Sara writes about her support for an newer, more extensive public transit system in Whistler.

Myrtle Philip's "What's New" Newsletter No. 23 - 1986

"Myrtle Philip's What's New?" Newsletter No. 23 from Myrtle Philip Elementary School, dated June 24, 1986. This one-page newsletter was issued at the end of the 1985/86 school year and contains a thank-you to parents and friends, an overview of plans for the next year (including a projected number of students and class sizes), an announcement about upcoming French classes, a note about changes in staff, a date for the intermediate awards ceremony, a staff list, and a reminder of the school start date in September.
