History
Edward “Ned” Keary DeBeck was born in 1883 in Dalles, Oregon to George Ward DeBeck and Emma Mary Keary. He attended Upper Canada College in Toronto, ON. He later studied law at McGill University in Montreal, QC. In 1910, he became a British Columbian lawyer. On June 15, 1910, in Vancouver, he married Marie Ann Foster, with whom he had three sons (Denis DeBeck, Rev. Ward DeBeck, and Fred A. DeBeck) and two daughters (Nedra Marshall and Betsey Henderson). On July 1, 1937, Ned became the superintendent of brokers in British Columbia. He retired in 1948. In January 1949, he became the clerk of the British Columbia Legislative Assembly. He continued as the clerk until 1973, when he became the clerk consultant. He died in Victoria, BC on January 12, 1975.
