Signed on behalf of Mayor Nancy Wilhelm-Morden of the RMOW, the proclamation details the need for recognition and respect for human and civil rights in a free and democratic society. This includes sexual orientation, where the RMOW declares to be a pioneer in celebrating Pride publicly, and states the benefits from including the LGBTTQ community. Furthermore, in recognition of the 21th annual celebration of the Gay & Lesbian Ski/Snowboard Week, a festival that brings together the LGBTTQ community to celebrate their uniqueness, share goals, and achievements, the period from January 26 - February 2, 2014 was proclaimed as "Pride Week" in the RMOW.
