Administrative history
The Alta Lake District Ratepayers Association was incorporated on June 26, 1963. It's objectives were to secure and discuss improvements in the best interest of local ratepayers in the Alta Lake area. Topics discussed by the ALDRA included: zoning, sewage, roads, power, avoidance of interference with rivers and lakes, control of pests, control use of pesticides, pollution of environment, restrictions on use of firearms, and fire prevention. In the beginning, the area for which the association was responisble was, in the South, the railway crossing by Mallock and Mosley's Logging Company and, in the North, to the north end of Green Lake. In 1973, the association voted against the 1976 Vancouver/Garibaldi bid to bring the Olympics to the area. On November 9, 1981, the name of the company was changed to the Whistler Ratepayers Association.
Custodial history
The book belonged to Alta Lake residents Julianna and Richard Heine and was donated by their relative [daughter?], Cathy Colborne. The Heines lived in Whistler for many years and were acquainted with many key community members such as Florence Petersen, Paul Burrows, and Pat Carleton. Juliana 'Julia' Heine served as one of the directors of ALDRA.
