Histórico
Alfred "Alf" Buckland was a forestry professional and lecturer. He was born in New Zealand in 1911 and came to Canada with his family in 1920. After completing high school in Vancouver, he worked in the mines in Eastern Canada, then returned to the University of British Columbia to study forest engineering. While at UBC, he was the only forestry student registered in his class. Alf played an important role in establishing British Columbia's first and only Municipal Tree Farm License at Mission, BC. He was engaged also by the Municipality of West Vancouver as a consulting forester, where he worked on problems of recreational forestry and the relationships between forest management and watershed control. During the last two years of his life, Alf was engaged as a lecturer in forestry at BCIT.
