Wallace Betts was a logger in the Alta Lake area when he met Jenny Jardine (born Janet Anderson). They married in 1937 and had four children together: Gerald, Elizabeth, Louise, and Samuel. As a family they moved around a bit due to Wallace's logging jobs, living for a time at Parkhurst before moving more permanently to Port McNeill, BC in 1946. There he and his wife founded St. John Gualbert church in Port McNeill.
