Geschiedenis
George Benjamin, originally from Toronto, Ontario, first came for a ski vacation to Whistler in 1968, staying at Toad Hall during that time. He moved to Whistler in 1970, staying at Toad Hall for a brief time and possibly Ball Point Pen Point. He owned and resided at Tokum Corners, a roughly made cabin with no electricity and no running water, with John Hetherington and Rod MacLeod from 1970 until the early 1980s. George, or “Benji”, as he was more commonly known, was also a semi-professional photographer. His family, back in Ontario, owned a photo-finishing business and this allowed him to develop his photographs for free – a handy asset in the days before digital photography. He opened the Photo Cell photography store in Creekside around 1973. He moved on to become a commercial fisherman in the mid-1970s. He moved from Whistler back to Toronto in the early 1980s and now lives in Port Perry, Ontario.
