Historique

John Stevenson Benbow was born in Vancouver May 10, 1958 and grew up at Ocean Park, South Surrey, BC. In 1979 he moved to Banff, Alberta where he worked construction as a summer job. In 1980 his employer there offered to sponsor him in a carpenter apprenticeship program at SAIT in Calgary. In 1984, the construction industry in Alberta all but stopped due to a recession. He, his wife Kerrie, and newly born daughter Kayla, decided to move back to the South Surrey area in search of financial stability. John worked for different firms learning all areas of the construction trade until 1988 when he started Benbow Construction which covered home construction and land development. In 1992 an opportunity presented itself to build in Whistler. The family purchased some property on Blueberry Hill, started construction, and have never looked back. After building in Whistler for ten years, John changed the company name to Benbow Custom Homes and created a new logo, as they became more involved in renovation and addition construction. John Benbow is also the website administrator for the Whistler Mountain Ski Club.
