History
Craig Beattie is the General Manager of Canadian Wilderness Tours in Whistler. Originally from Brockville, ON, he attended Thousand Islands Secondary School and went on to do a Diploma in Business Administration and marketing from St. Lawrence College between 1992 and 1995. His love for the outdoors and skiing stemmed from his first trip to Colorado in 1993, inspiring him to move to Whistler upon graduation from St. Lawrence College in 1995. He worked as Conference Sales Coordinator for Tourism Whistler starting in 1997 before beginning as a tour guide with Canadian Wilderness Tours in May 1999. He worked his way up in the company, from Lead Hand to Operations Manager. He left Canadian Wilderness Tours briefly to work as a paramedic for the BC Ambulance Service, but returned as General Manager for the company in 2007. In 2013 he studied Financial Management at BCIT and served on the board of the Community Foundation of Whistler (CFOW). Craig teaches Wilderness First Aid for Sirius Wilderness Medicine and snowmobile training programs for the BC Snowmobile Federation, and he serves as the BC Commercial Snowmobile Association Vice President. He currently resides in Pemberton with his wife and two children, spending free time volunteering with Pemberton Search and Rescue.
