History

Eric Beardmore was a pilot with the Royal Canadian Air Force who fought in the Battle of Britain and an original investor in Whistler Mountain ski resort. In 1938, Eric Beardmore married his wife, Jean. He then fought as a spitfire pilot with the RCAF and was shot-down and injured during the Battle of Britain during World War II. Eric and Jean moved to Victoria, BC in 1943, where Eric was stationed in coastal reconnaissance for the later war years. After Eric's discharge in 1945, they moved to Vancouver. They had one son, Ian Beardmore. Eric Beardmore was one of the Vancouver professionals who was one of the original directors when Garibaldi Lift Company was incorporated, headed by Franz Wilhelmsen. Eric died in August 1966.
