History

Carlos Basanta was born in Spain, but became a naturalized Canadian in 1976. He studied at the University of Madrid from 1962-1966, and became a guest lecturer at the Memphis Academy of Art and an instructor at Memphis State University. He is known in Whistler as the creator of the 'Storyteller's Chair', which won the Whistler Village Public Art competition in 1999.
