Brian Barnett graduated from UBC with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1987. Barnett worked with the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) from 1996-2009 as General Manager of Engineering and Public Works. Some of the projects he oversaw as general manager of environmental services included paving the day skier lots, building the Fitzsimmons Creek debris barrier, and the construction of the compost facility. He also served on the board of directors for the Waste and Water Association in 2008. He went on to work as General Manager of Engineering and Parks for the District of Squamish (2010-2012) and Senior Project Manager for the City of Port Moody (2012-2015). Since 2012 he has run his own business called Barnett Consultancy Group which provides engineering management services to local governments.
