History

Grace was born in 1878 in Nova Scotia. She worked as a nurse in Massachusetts in her younger life, but had to leave under scandal after having an affair with the married Head Surgeon. She came to Vancouver and worked in a house for nurses on 12th Avenue, Vancouver. She came to Alta Lake with her brother, Ernest in 1912, to preempt land. She preempted 160 acres on the East side of Alta Lake and built a cabin on it. According to the BC Deaths Index, a 'Grace Florence Archibald' died in Burnaby in 1956, this is likely the same Grace Archibald.
