Biographical history

Born in 1947, Gary Fieghen’s passion for nature and outdoor photography led him to pursue studies at the Ryerson Polytechnic Institute before bringing him to British Columbia and the resort city of Whistler. His journey did not stop at Whistler though, as Fiegehen also travelled to work as a photographer in the Soviet Union and China, before settling in Vancouver, BC. His photos have been featured in magazines such as Equinox, Harrowsmith, Borealis, and Beautiful British Columbia as well as a variety of books about British Columbia. Fiegehen is also the author of the book Stikine: the Great River (D&M, 1991) and a contributing author to Cowboy (by B.A. Payton and Jim Skipp, 2000), Vancouver Voyage, Charting the Northwest Coast: a Voyage of Discovery (by Robin Fisher, 1992), and Nisga’a People of the Nass River (by Alex Rose and the Nisga’a Tribal Council, 1994).
