Pearl was working as a teacher in Edmonton where she married George Thompson, 1 Mar. 1921. They had two daughters, Kathleen (b. 1921) and Margie (b. 1934).

George and Pearl worked in Rainbow Lodge, Sept 1927 to July 1933. Pearl ran the post office, assisted Myrtle Philip in the Lodge, and helped the cook, Lam Shu, create the daily menu.

Sawicki, Joan

Joan Marie Sawicki is a former British Columbia politician. She earned a BA in Education in 1968 and worked as a secondary school teacher and land-use consultant before entering politics. In 1987 she served one term on the Burnaby City Council. From 1991 to 2001, she served as an MLA for the BC NDP, representing Burnaby-Willingdon. She held the positions of Speaker of the Legislative Assembly (1992-1994) and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Municipal Affairs (1994-1996) and to the Minister of Environment, Lands, and Parks (1996-1998). In 1999, she herself was named as the Minister of Environment, Lands, and Parks, a position which she held until 2000.

Epplett, Sandi

Sandra 'Sandi' Paulik-Epplett was a longtime Whistler teacher. Originally from Vancouver, she took teaching practicums in East Vancouver before moving to Whistler in 1977 to teach at Myrtle Philip Elementary School. Throughout her teaching career she taught children of all ages, from kindergarten to high school. A neighbour and friend of Myrtle Philip, Epplett often had her visit the classroom to teach the students about Whistler's early years. In addition to teaching, she served as the school's librarian (in at least 1985-86), organized track and field events, held fundraisers for grad, started a leadership program, volunteered for RCMP victim support services and the Kelty Patrick Dennehy Foundation, and made personalized scrapbooks for every student in her classes. Her contributions were rewarded with a National Excellence Award for Teachers from the Heritage Education Funds in 2011. She had been nominated by the parent of a former Whistler student, and was the first Sea-to-Sky-area teacher to win this award. Epplett ended her teaching career in 2013 at the Spring Creek Community School.

She married Bill Epplett and raised two children in Whistler. Her son Thomas enrolled as an infantry officer in the Canadian Army in 2009.

Bartlett, Ellen

Ellen Bartlett is a Whistler teacher and librarian. She served as a Grade 1-2 teacher and librarian at Myrtle Philip Elementary School in 1985-86 and was still working at the school as of 1993-94. By 2001 she was a teacher-librarian at the Whistler Library.

Craig Smith moved to Whistler from Vancouver in 1986 to teach grades 4-5 and assist with the sports program at Myrtle Philip Elementary School. He had taught the previous year at Signal Hill. Smith and his wife Linda raised three children in Whistler. He serves on the board of the Whistler Community Church and as a member of its service host team. He is also involved in outdoor activities and ran the Scotiabank Vancouver Half-Marathon in 2013.

Marion Hardy is a childcare worker who spent twelve years (1990-2002) developing early childhood care resources in Whistler and the Sea to Sky Corridor. She was the Director of Childcare Services for the Whistler and Spring Creek Children's Centres, sat on the B.C. Association of Childcare Services, and served as a relief teacher at Myrtle Philip Elementary School during the 1985-86 school year. In May 2002 she left Whistler to be the executive director of the Cariboo Childcare Society at the University College of the Cariboo in Kamloops.
