Doris Jane Burrows (nee Archer) was born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario and received a degree in Marketing Research at Ryerson University before travelling to Vancouver to take a teaching degree at UBC. There she met Paul Burrows, who she married in 1971. The couple moved to Whistler so that Jane could teach the primary grades at Signal Hill in Pemberton. She was among the first teachers at Myrtle Philip Elementary School when it opened in 1973. Jane also served as a member of the Alta Lake Community Club, volunteered for the Whistler Museum and Archives Society, and co-published the Whistler Question newspaper with Paul. They continued to reside in their Alpine A-Frame until moving to Salmon Arm in 2000.

Epplett, Sandra "Sandi"

Sandra 'Sandi' Paulik-Epplett was a longtime Whistler teacher. Originally from Vancouver, she took teaching practicums in East Vancouver before moving to Whistler in 1977 to teach at Myrtle Philip Elementary School. Throughout her teaching career she taught children of all ages, from kindergarten to high school. A neighbour and friend of Myrtle Philip, Epplett often had her visit the classroom to teach the students about Whistler's early years. In addition to teaching, she served as the school's librarian (in at least 1985-1986), organized track and field events, held fundraisers for graduation, started a leadership program, volunteered for RCMP victim support services and the Kelty Patrick Dennehy Foundation, and made personalized scrapbooks for every student in her classes. Her contributions were rewarded with a National Excellence Award for Teachers from the Heritage Education Funds in 2011. She had been nominated by the parent of a former Whistler student, and was the first Sea-to-Sky-area teacher to win this award. Epplett ended her teaching career in 2013 at Spring Creek Community School in Whistler. She married Bill Epplett and raised two children in Whistler. Her son, Thomas, enrolled as an infantry officer in the Canadian Army in 2009.

Hardy, Marion

Marion Hardy is a childcare worker who spent twelve years (1990-2002) developing early childhood care resources in Whistler and the Sea to Sky Corridor. She was the Director of Childcare Services for the Whistler and Spring Creek Children's Centres, sat on the BC Association of Childcare Services, and served as a relief teacher at Myrtle Philip Elementary School during the 1985-86 school year. In May 2002, she left Whistler to be the Executive Director of the Cariboo Childcare Society at the University College of the Cariboo in Kamloops.

Sawicki, Joan

Joan Marie Sawicki is a former British Columbia politician. She earned a BA in Education in 1968 and worked as a secondary school teacher and land-use consultant before entering politics. In 1987 she served one term on the Burnaby City Council. From 1991 to 2001, she served as an MLA for the BC NDP, representing Burnaby-Willingdon. She held the positions of Speaker of the Legislative Assembly (1992-1994) and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Municipal Affairs (1994-1996) and to the Minister of Environment, Lands, and Parks (1996-1998). In 1999, she herself was named as the Minister of Environment, Lands, and Parks, a position which she held until 2000.
