Throughout his postings in the Lower Mainland, LeClair spent plenty of time in Whistler, organizing Whistler RCMP's ski patrol program. He made an impression on Norm McPhail, the former head of the Whistler detachment and later general manager of community and corporate services for the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW). When w sergeant's position came open at the Whistler detachment, Norm recommended Steve to apply for the role. Steve took on that role in 2007 and not only assisted us further with the ski patrol program, but also joined Whistler Search and Rescue. He spent nine years as an operations non-commissioned officer for the Whistler and Pemberton detachments, ushering the resort through its Olympic year in 2010 and playing a key role in several high-profile cases until his retirement in 2016. Steve teaches avalanche (AST 1) courses with Extremely Canadian in Whistler and continues doing contract work in Whistler as a reservist constable.
